The Work Order Splitting software add-on for Sage MAS 500 will allow you to split quantities to multiple work orders from a single work order source. This is most useful if you need to produce large quantities of items that vary only slightly. For example you can create a work order to create a specific quantity of an item, then split the quantities at the painting step, to paint each product differently. The WIP quantities and costs are then split to the new work order as well. This can also be used for moving suspect materials to be reworked, using a split work order. Some of the additional features of the system can be seen below:
- Maximize Machine Steps - Large quantity work orders can be created for items that have similar machine setups. You can then run all parts for existing orders and split the quantities to separate orders for different operations down the road.
- Split WIP Quantities - You can split however many units you desire from work in process on an existing work order to a new work order. The remaining units are then left in WIP for the original work order.
- Splitting WIP Costs - The system will take the accumulated WIP costs associated with the units you are moving to a new WO and split them off from the original (source) work order. The cost per unit is calculated based on average WIP costs to date for the source work order, divided by the number units on the source WO.
- Multiple Splits - You can create an unlimited number of splits from any open Work Order.
